Itinerary Highlights

Welcome aboard the True North or True North II in Broome for a cocktail and dinner before an overnight steam to the Rowley Shoals.

Wake up at glorious Clerke Reef and discover its huge lagoon and extensive outer reef. Guided by the crew, snorkellers and divers can explore crystal-clear waters teeming with spectacular clouds of fish and corals. Beachcombers can explore Bedwell Island, and fishers can catch (and release) in the lagoon using eco-friendly tackle. Finish the night with the delights of the galley and your first spectacular Rowley sunset.

Start the day with a visit to the spectacular “Aquarium” — the water is only waist-deep, but the experience is unforgettable. Discover brilliantly coloured corals, giant clams, and hundreds of beautiful fish species. After lunch, enjoy a high-speed snorkel drift through the outer reef guided by the crew. Anchorage tonight is in the “swimming pool–like” waters of Clerke Lagoon.

After an early-morning swim, set off on adventure boats to explore the outer reef — a totally different snorkelling experience. The sheer coral walls teeming with life will amaze you. Fishing boats may head out searching for pelagic species such as Spanish mackerel, giant dog-toothed tuna, wahoo and sailfish. There is also a chance of close encounters with humpback whales or manta rays. Finish the day with sunset drinks on the beach and one of True North’s famous Island Parties. Then return to the comfort of the vessel for another perfect night — 360° stars reflected in a glassy ocean at Clerke Lagoon.

Spend the day exploring the outer reef and “The Maze,” a series of coral bombies inside the lagoon. You’ll also have the option to explore the island, stand-up paddleboard, kayak, or enjoy a final fishing session. Then overnight steam back to Broome, watching the Rowleys fade into the blazing western sky.

Arrive early in Broome for a morning disembarkment. Transfer to your next destination or accommodation. Your Rowley Shoals adventure ends here — but the memories will last a lifetime.

Embrace the unexpected – it’s part of the adventure. This itinerary is a guide. We adjust plans based on weather, tides, wildlife, and opportunities we encounter. Remote communities may be unavailable due to local customs. Flexibility makes expeditions special.
